Camping Games You Can Also Do When Glamping

So you and the family have arrived at Home Farm Glamping, you’ve checked in, put your bags away in your tent, and you’re ready to let loose in our meadow. Just like a camping break, glamping is as good a time as any to switch off those screens, kick off your shoes and indulge in some friendly competition! Today we’ll be having a look at some of the best camping games that you can also do when glamping.

Sporty camping or glamping games

Table tennis in the barn

Our large open meadow is the perfect setting for some team sports. Throw your jumpers down to make goalposts and have a kick around, or pop into our barn where you’ll find cricket, rounders and badminton sets. We also have frisbees which are fun for the whole family to just throw around, or if you’ve got a larger group you could have a match of ultimate frisbee.

Perhaps a good-old fashioned sports day will be just the ticket. Wheelbarrow race, egg-and-spoon, sack race, three-legged race. Basically, take a race and make it silly!

If the weather isn’t on your side and you need to shelter in the barn, then we’ve got table tennis to keep you active.

Board games and card games to take when glamping

Speaking of avoiding the bad weather, all those classic rainy day activities are perfect for an afternoon in our rustic barn. We’ve got plenty of board games (although maybe you want to bring along your own family favourites) and giant jenga, which is equally fun out in the fields with the sun shining. A deck of cards is always a smart thing to pack before coming out to Home Farm. There’s nothing quite like a game of snap, rummy or cheat to while away those wet British days. Uno is always a favourite too.

If those kind of games aren’t your thing, then a good round of charades is always a hugely fun passer of time. Or grab some post-it notes and stick them to your foreheads with the names of famous people written on them. Ask each other yes or no questions until everyone has guessed who they are.

Games for our glamping field and forest

Let's be more optimistic now, though, and imagine the sun is shining down gloriously, the perfect conditions for a good run around. Our glamping site is not just open fields, but the estate also contains plenty of lovely forest, the perfect setting for a scavenger hunt, with all its little nooks and crannies acting as great hiding places. Speaking of which, the woods is also the best site for a quintessential game of hide and seek.

It's important with games like this that we use it as an opportunity to teach our kids how to respect and protect our environment too. Remember to let them know that as they’re running around the site to be mindful of the flowers, trees and other vital wildlife that make up our local ecosystems.

If you’ve got two competitive families in your party, then a game of capture the flag is a great way to spend your afternoon out in the meadow and the forest. Each group creates a ‘base camp’ at opposite ends of the site with a flag hidden somewhere within it, and it's the job of each team to get hold of the others’ flag and return it to their own base. This one is great fun as it gets the blood pumping, uses strategy and gets people working in teams.

Home Farm Glamping is great for mini-breaks, as we offer flexible stays for family or friends for a night (or more) with easy access from Hertfordshire and London.

Why not book your stay with us and come and galavant in our meadow?
