At Home Farm Glamping, we've taken the hard work out of spending time in nature by providing everything you'll need for your stay - all you need to remember is your overnight bag and something scrummy to cook on your Weber BBQ, and we've got the rest covered. We've done this so that accessing nature feels doable and tempting (!) for couples, friends and families who just need that hit of green to quieten the mind and dream big.

All of our tents have their own outdoor seating area and barbecue, so you can sit back and watch the stars while soaking up the peace and quiet of the countryside. Communal facilities and festoon-lined firepit are but a short walk away, including toilets and hot showers, a kitchen area with urn and fridge-freezer. If you’d like to glamp as a group and have have booked several tents, let us know and we will try to put you together.

GLAMPING IN OUR YURTS

We have four festoon-lined yurts, all featuring billowing fabric interiors, large port-hole windows and a traditional "crown" skylight.

Designed and made in England by BCT Outdoors, with a fabric-lined frame, our yurts are a modern take on the Mongolian wooden lattice design. Each yurt contains a gloriously comfortable double bed, day bed and can be fitted with additional single beds to sleep up to five.

GLAMPING IN OUR BELL TENTS

Our charming bell tents can sleep up to four guests - perfect for couples, families or friends looking for an outdoor escape on the London / Hertfordshire border.

The famous bell tent has had a facelift in the years since it was designed as the original scout tent.

All eight of ours are lined with a dreamy billowy fabric, and with a framed structure guests of all heights are comfortable. Also British-made by BCT Outdoors, each contains a blissful double bed and up to two single beds, making the bell suitable for a couple or groups of 3-4.

YOUR STAY WITH US

We’re here to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

  • Check in is from 3.30pm each afternoon (virtual check in available after 5pm), and check out is 10am from tents and 10.30am from the site. We have a limited number of late check-out opportunities (for an extra fee), so please email us to enquire.

  • We have three fire pits dotted across the meadow where you can toast marshmallows and star gaze. We do ask that if you want to play music you keep it at respectful volume, and to be switched off after 9pm. We provide logs and eco firelighters so you have everything you need for your campfire experience.

  • We have six shower rooms with hot showers, flushing loos and heated towel rails a short walk from your tent, plus a washing up area with hot running water. The hot water is available 24 hours a day. Guests will need to bring a towel with them, or you can rent one for £4.

  • We will provide lanterns and tea lights inside the tents, but we recommend bringing a torch/ using your phone torch if you have one (who doesn’t love a head torch, let's be honest). There are lots of places to charge phones and laptops if required in the communal barn.

Warm Clothes

Even though the days may be warm, this is still Hertfordshire after all. We provide squidgy duvets and warm blankets, but an extra jumper, beanie and bed socks are recommended for sitting around the campfire.

Wellies and / or sturdy footwear are always a good idea if you want to go off exploring in the woods or stomping through the meadows. This is proper farmland so even in the middle of summer things can get a bit muddy.

Pets & Pooches

We love dogs! Bring your pooch along for just £12.50 - all we ask is they’re kept on the lead while on site and you’re mindful to pick up after them.

ANY OTHER TIPS?

In the height of summer, the morning light and dawn chorus can rouse guests early, so if you would prefer a lie in you may like to bring an eye mask and ear plugs to sleep in.

Our FAQS

CHECK-IN & CHECK-OUT

  • Check in opens at 3.30pm. If possible, please give us a call on 07512 439489 when you are half an hour away and a team member will greet you.

  • Our site team will be on site until 17:00pm each day and happy to show any guests arriving before this time around the site and to their tent. After 17:00 guests can virtually check in, using our check in video and following the instructions when you find reception in the barn.

  • We ask you to vacate your tent by 10am so we can prepare for our next guests. You are welcome to remain on site until 10.30am. We have a limited number of late checkout opportunities for an additional £20, meaning you can lie in until 11am and be offsite by 11.30am - please email us to enquire or book as an additional extra when checking out.

OUR TENTS

  • We have two types of tent: Yurts and Bell Tents, all designed and made in Britain. Our Yurts are larger and can sleep up to 5 people. Bell Tents sleep up to 4 people. Each stand on their own decking, are fully furnished and come with their own BBQ.

  • Yes. We have crisp cotton bedding, and while our fillings are synthetic due to allergies, they are thick and cosy, with extra blankets and bedspreads too.

  • Each tent contains a double bed and can be fitted with additional single beds to sleep up to four in a Bell Tent or five in a Yurt. If you require more beds than the tents hold you will need to book another tent - unless you are bringing a travel cot.

  • No. Unfortunately we don’t have any travel cots on site so please bring your own travel cots for infants as well as bedding.

  • No. You will find decorative LED battery operated lights and tea light lanterns inside. During the day, light will come through into the tent. It is a good idea to bring an eye mask if you’d like to lie in.

    If you’d like to charge your devices, please use the plug points in the barn. If you’d like to keep drinks etc cold in your tent, please ask to borrow a cool box and ice packs to chill your items.

  • No. The bedding is top quality and warm, but do bring warm clothes for the evening (even in summertime).

    There are blankets in the tents, but no harm in bringing your own if you’d like some extra warmth when sitting around the fire.

  • A chest to store your belongings, a bedside table, table-top mirror, a basket for wet shoes/boots and some books. You may also find some friendly insects passing through – it’s their home too after all!

  • Our tents are between 10-20 metres from each other and if your group has booked a number of tents, let us know and our team will try their hardest to get you in neighbouring tents. Please note however that this is not always possible as we may have guests with disabilities or needs which means they will need to be prioritised in tents nearest to the barn.

  • No. For safety reasons we ask you to park your cars in the designated car park and move your belongings on foot or by wheelbarrow. The car park is just 50m from the tents!

  • No. Please either avoid bringing valuables, if you must bring them we recommend locking them in your car rather than taking them with you to your tent (all at your own risk).

  • We are a dog friendly site, but do ask for a £12.50 contribution to go towards the additional cleaning onsite. They may sleep in your tent, but please bring a dog bed for them and keep them close at all times, being sure to always pick up after them. No other pets are allowed.

OUR BATHROOMS (SHOWER ROOMS)

  • Our bathrooms have showers, not baths. There are 6 units, each with their own shower, loo, sink and heated towel rail. They sit in two blocks of three, next to the barn, not far from your tents (the closest tent is around 50 metres from the bathrooms and the furthest is around 120 metres away, so not far at all).

  • Yes. As we have 12 tents, you may find yourself sharing facilities, but we have them thoroughly cleaned daily. You will also find two additional w.c.’s, alongside the main bathrooms.

  • There is hand soap and liquid body wash in each bathroom and lots of toilet rolls. We also provide bath mats as well as hand towels in the bathroom block. There is a small bin in each bathroom, but please dispose of nappies in one of our outdoor bins.

  • Yes. Please bring your own towels or add them to your booking (extra charge) and your own toiletries (please keep them with you – do not leave any belongings in the bathroom).

  • Our glamping bathrooms can accommodate those who struggle with mobility, but we also have a wheelchair accessible toilet and shower unit on site. Please let the team know if you have any needs we need to accommodate so we can best prepare for your stay.

  • We have a couple of changing mats available by request please just ask a member of the team. Please dispose of nappies in your own nappy bags in the outdoor bins.

FOOD AND DRINK

  • You can either self-cater, eat out at a local restaurant / pub or order a take away to the site.

  • You can join us for Breakfast in the Barn for delicious cooked breakfasts or enjoy the convenience of gourmet breakfast and BBQ boxes with Gregory’s Kitchen. Also, Sainlo run the Aerodrome cafe which is just a 15 minute walk from the site - you can enjoy a full English there watching the light aircrafts take off.

  • We have a big open-sided barn where you’ll find a number of fridges and a freezer, a microwave, small counter top ovens with hobs, a hot water urn, along with a supply of tea, coffee, sugar and some (dairy) milk. Please do ensure you have washed your hands before using communal spaces. Please choose a fridge and pop your items on a few shelves.

    Do bring extra milk if you know you’ll need more than a splash in your hot drinks. Each tent will also receive a box of camping plates, bowls, cups, tumblers and cutlery.

    We do have some tea towels but you may prefer to bring your own tea towels/paper towels. Recycling facilities can be found in the barn.

  • Yes, each tent has its own BBQ and a bucket of coal will be provided. Please ensure your food is thoroughly cooked, and ask a member of staff for advice on how to use or watch tutorials on Youtube on how to use a Weber BBQ.

    Do not use your BBQ inside of your tent. If it is raining, you're welcome to move your BBQ to the glamping barn where it is safe to BBQ.

  • No. You’ll find your first night’s supply of logs and charcoal by your tent on the day you arrive, extra supplies can be provided for an additional charge of £5. We provide matches, firelighters and utensils.

  • Yes please do, just remember to let us know if you have arranged a grocery delivery before you arrive, so that if possible we can arrange for someone to be there to receive your delivery and put it away for you, should you need help.

    There are communal fridges and we can provide cool boxes and ice packs for your tents, if required.

    There is a farm shop at Aldenham Country Park just over ½ mile away, and you’ll also find various shops and supermarkets in Borehamwood and Radlett nearby.

  • Yes, there are two within walking distance. The Waggon & Horses about 5 minutes’ drive or 20 minutes on foot, with good food, a big beer garden and an open fire. There is also The Battle Axes, part of the Chef and Brewer group, serving food throughout the day and also has a nice garden, about 20 minutes’ walk along the Aldenham Road.

  • Please bring your own or order from our suggested local businesses which will deliver to the barn for your arrival.

    You must be over the age of 18 to drink alcohol on site, do have a quick scan of our terms and conditions with reference to drinking onsite.

    Please remember we are a family friendly site so drink sensibly. You may choose to bring your own reusable, unbreakable wine / pint glasses. Remember, ice is not provided on site.

  • We’d hate for you to have to worry about this sort of thing during your stay, but if you do use anything from your box or the communal kitchen, you’ll find an outdoor space to wash-up, inc. washing liquid and scourers and please wipe down surfaces after use using the equipment provided.

ACTIVITIES AND FACILITIES

  • At Home Farm, we are working closely with the Herts & Middlesex Wildlife Trust on an ambitious environment management plan to improve biodiversity on the wider Estate. In the past few years we have planted nearly 2000 trees, re-established hedgerows, dug six ghost ponds, removed non-native species from our woodlands and are currently working on improving the ecology of our lake. Beyond this, at the glamping site we have heavily invested in increasing our mains power supply so that we no longer need to rely on a generator, as well as a host of more sustainable practices to ensure our impact is as low as possible.

    For us, having up to 12 firepits burning every night for 6 months of the year didn't sit right with our sustainability commitments, when we already have 12 BBQs burning and a communal firepit. We understand that for some of our guests, the firepit experience is the biggest draw to glamping and while we would hate to upset or disappoint our guests, we feel strongly that we can better protect the beauty of the greenbelt and create unforgettable memories in harmony with nature this way.

    But don't worry! We've still got our communal, festoon-lined firepit, where guests can come together, share stories, and toast marshmallows. Last summer when the local open fire ban came into play during the heatwave, we only received positive feedback from our guests about only using the communal firepit and hope this adjustment to our onsite experience will be welcomed by our guests.

  • Our kitchen-ette has the facilities to be able to cook some pasta, re-heat some food or make a cup of tea. Our little oven is able to cook some chicken nuggets, but not a roast dinner. We have plenty of BBQ facilities (tongs, skewers etc.).

  • We have 150 acres of farmland, woodland and lakes to explore, plus the large glamping meadow, communal barn and a new play fort in the woods.

    Those enjoying woodland and grassland walks should be aware of the dangers of a serious bacterial infection called Lyme disease which is passed on by ticks to humans and dogs.

    We also have some sports equipment and games to enjoy. In addition to this, we have a host of things to do at Home Farm and nearby. Please contact us to let us know your ideas when you’re in planning mode.

  • We’re also in a great location for Aldenham Country Park, Warner Bros. Studio Tour (Harry Potter), Lost Jungle Adventure Golf, Top Golf and Wembley Stadium – not to mention Central London around 15 miles away. We’re also surrounded by lots more countryside.
